The 2026 Excavations at Via Belvedere have begun
Our team, including 16 students from colleges and universities around the United States, will be working on the south slope of Castiglione del Lago for the next four weeks. This season we hope to learn more about the Etruscan wall discovered in 2025 and the source of the water for the Roman fountain adjacent to the bath complex that we first uncovered in 2023.

There has already been a lot of activity at the site. On Wednesday, 10 June, our friends at the Archeo Trasimeno club hosted a visit to the site and on Friday 12 June, the Via Belvedere excavations were featured as part of “Le Giornate Europee d’Archeologia” (the European Days of Archaeology).
